Want to ensure your child's safety as they partake in trick-or-treating this Halloween, but aren't sure what else to say other than "Be careful!"?
Hatfield Township Police Chief Toomey offers some excellent reminders for parents:
1. Trick or treat in familiar neighborhoods.
2. Carry a flashlight with fresh batteries after dark.
3. Always trick or treat in groups, accompanied by an adult.
4. Stay on the sidewalks and out of the streets. Cross only at intersections and designated crosswalks.
5. Don't enter any houses, unless you know the people who reside there.
6. Always watch for cars backing up or turning.
7. Respect other people and their property. Don't run through flower beds or through backyards.
8. Don't eat any candy until it's inspected for tampering under bright lights.
9. Avoid candy that has loose wrappings, is unwrapped, has puncture holes, or is homemade.
10. Report any suspicious or criminal activity to an adult or to the police.
Police Chief Mark Toomey wishes everyone a fun and safe Halloween. Concerns? Call the police department at 215-855-0903 (non-emergency). In an emergency always dial 9-1-1.
Many thanks to Chief Toomey and the Hatfield PD! Have a Happy (& Safe!) Halloween, North Penn!
